| Kensico Cemetery (1889 - 1899) |
| "During the year 1897 the force employed in the Cemetery has been constantly engaged in caring for the property, The area of improved land is now upwards of 50 acres. It contains a great many choice lots and circles, all of which are accessible. They are constantly becoming more attractive because of the assiduous and careful attention given to the lots and the careful cultivation and correspondingly rapid growth of the trees and shrubbery, which have been selected with reference to the adaptability of the land and their surroundings. There have been set out during the past year 2,668 trees and shrubs, the total number amounting to 4,370 trees and shrubs. The Steam Road Roller and Stone Crusher have been of inestimable advantage in enabling us to keep the drives in the highest condition of excellence. There have been broken and prepared for the stone crusher 1500 tons of rock. This product has been utilized in constructing new road-ways and keeping in perfect order those already opened." |
